Assemble the Trifle
- In a trifle dish, layer half of the sponge cake cubes at the bottom.
- Pour half of the custard over the sponge cake layer.
- Add a layer of mixed berries on top of the custard.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining sponge cake, custard, and berries.
- Top with whipped cream, spreading it evenly over the last layer.
- Garnish with slivered almonds and mint leaves if desired.
Chill
- Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
