strawberry tres leches cake

A deliciously moist cake soaked in three types of milk, topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

Ingredients
  

Cake
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1 tsp vanilla extract
Tres Leches Mixture
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
Topping
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced

Method
 

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Make the Tres Leches Mixture
  1. In a bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk.
Soak the Cake
  1. Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  2. Poke holes all over the cake using a fork.
  3. Slowly pour the tres leches mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  4. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Prepare the Topping
  1. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  2. Spread the whipped cream over the soaked cake and top with sliced strawberries.
