Making the Marmalade
- Start by washing the fresh oranges thoroughly. Zest one orange carefully, avoiding the bitter white pith, to capture that vibrant citrus aroma.
- Juice all the oranges until you have a generous amount of fresh juice. Strain the juice to remove any seeds, ensuring a smooth marmalade.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, mix the orange juice, zest, granulated sugar, and water. Stir the mixture gently until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, keep stirring occasionally, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 30-40 minutes.
- To check if it's ready, drop a spoonful of the marmalade onto a cold plate. If it holds its shape, you’re good to go!
- Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the marmalade to cool slightly. Pour it into sterilized jars, sealing them tightly.
