Ingredients

For the Marmalade
  • 4 large fresh oranges choose ripe, juicy oranges for the best flavor
  • 2 cups granulated sugar the sweet balance that enhances the oranges
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice brightens the flavor, don’t skip this!
  • 1 cup water helps to dissolve the sugar while cooking

Equipment

  • large saucepan
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • sterilized jars

Method

Making the Marmalade
  1. Start by washing the fresh oranges thoroughly. Zest one orange carefully, avoiding the bitter white pith, to capture that vibrant citrus aroma.
  2. Juice all the oranges until you have a generous amount of fresh juice. Strain the juice to remove any seeds, ensuring a smooth marmalade.
  3. In a large saucepan over medium heat, mix the orange juice, zest, granulated sugar, and water. Stir the mixture gently until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, keep stirring occasionally, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 30-40 minutes.
  5. To check if it's ready, drop a spoonful of the marmalade onto a cold plate. If it holds its shape, you’re good to go!
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the marmalade to cool slightly. Pour it into sterilized jars, sealing them tightly.
