  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

Prepare the Batter
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal and salt. Slowly stir in the boiling water until a thick batter forms.
Shape the Cornbread
  1. Allow the batter to cool slightly, then shape it into small patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
Fry the Patties
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
Serve
  1. Remove the patties from the pan and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
