Ingredients
  

Casserole Base
  • 4 cups potatoes peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham diced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the milk, cream of mushroom soup, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
  4. Spread half of the diced ham over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, ham, and cheese.
  6. Pour the milk and soup mixture evenly over the top.
  7. Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  3. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking. Just add an extra 10-15 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
