Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour Opt for high-quality flour for the best texture.
  • 1.5 cups Warm Water About 110°F (43°C) helps activate the yeast.
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast Ensure it's fresh for optimal rising power.
  • 0.25 cups Olive Oil Use extra virgin for its robust flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons Salt Kosher salt works beautifully in this recipe.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Herbs (Rosemary or Thyme) Their fragrant aroma transforms your Focaccia.
  • to taste Sea Salt Flakes Add before baking for crunch and flavor.

Method

Prepare Your Dough
  1. Combine warm water and yeast in a bowl. Wait about five minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add Flour and Knead
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in your yeast mixture along with olive oil. Stir until combined, then knead on a floured surface until smooth—about 8-10 minutes.
First Rise Time!
  1. Place your kneaded dough in an oiled bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size—approximately 1-2 hours.
Shape Your Focaccia
  1. Once risen, gently punch down the dough to release air bubbles. Transfer it to an oiled baking sheet and stretch it into an even rectangle or circle.
Dimple and Season
  1. Create deep dimples all over the surface of the dough. Drizzle generously with olive oil, sprinkle fresh herbs, and top with sea salt flakes.
Bake Away!
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake your Focaccia for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
